It's been a bit quiet in Blossom Wood recently – but that's because I have been working on something very exciting. The brand new Puppies of Blossom Meadow series is set in the same world as Blossom Meadow, just over the Great Hedge! There'll be a whole host of new characters, including some magical meadow creatures, plus some familiar ones too. The first book, Fairy Friends, will be published in February 2020. Click here to pre-order it now!
It's Unicorn Day!
And to celebrate, I was lucky enough to be invited to guest blog on lots of great sites. I'm over on Get Kids into Books talking about my favourite mythical creatures in literature, and they also wrote a very lovely review. Meanwhile on Have Book Will Read I'm chatting about where I like to read and write. It's all about my childhood daze on Serendipity Reviews, where you can see what I looked like in the 80s (warning: hair) and my favourite childhood books on Read It Daddy, where Blossom Wood is also featured in their chapter book round-up. Finally, Books-a-Go-Go wrote a great review of the first two unicorn books (which not only made me very happy, but also gave me enormous flamingo-light envy).

There's something afoot in Blossom Wood
I've been working on something new and exciting for Blossom Wood! More will be revealed soon, but for now, here's a picture clue as to what it's all about...
I've had a busy couple of months visiting schools in Norfolk, Suffolk and London, including Caister Junior School, where I was greeted by this fantastic display (pictured). As usual, at many of the visits I was lucky enough to be accompanied by some very special owl guests from the Fritton Owl Sanctuary.
If you're a teacher who's interested in me visiting your school, you can use the contact form on the author page to ask about my availibility. If you're a parent or child who'd like me to visit, ask your teacher to get in touch!
Pick up the latest Owls of Blossom Wood books!
Books 4, 5 and 6 in the Owls of Blossom Wood series are out now! In The Birthday Party, it's Bobby's birthday, but what will happen when he disappears before his party? In Save the Day, the bees are on strike – can the owls work out what's wrong? And in An Enchanted Wedding the otters are getting married, but when their wedding rings disappear, can the owls come to the rescue?
You can find them in your nearest good bookshop, library, or buy them online here.
The Owls of Blossom Wood – on tour!
At the end of September I spent an amazing week visiting schools in Suffolk and Norfolk to celebrate the launch of the Owls of Blossom Wood. It was made extra-special because I was accompanied by Mark and Louise from the Fritton Owl Sanctuary and two of their wonderful owls, Fluke and Shadow.
On Monday we were at Somerleyton Primary, and on Tuesday we visited Ladybird Nursery in Lowestoft, where many of the children dressed up as woodland creatures and three fancy-dress winners were each awarded an owl adoption as a prize. On Wednesday we visited Rackheath Primary School, and my editor, Lucy Rogers, joined us too, for a day of book-and-owl-related fun! You can check out lots of photos of the day here. And on Friday, we finished a truly owlsome week at Northfield St Nicholas Academy.
Things I learnt:
Owls poop A LOT – and they don't care whether it's outside, indoors, or on a lovely clean classroom carpet…
Just because you're an author, or an editor, doesn't mean you get out of cleaning up said poop!
Leading an assembly for a whole school of children (from Reception to Year 4) is not straightforward, because of the age difference, but definitely doable. The key is to have fun! As well as storytelling, I used interactive games and different types of questions and answer sessions to make sure I had something to suit everyone.
Owls are the most incredible creatures. OK, so I already knew this, but spending a week holding Fluke and Shadow make me fall in love with these birds all over again.
